2008 AGM REVIEW

Her Majesty's Consul General Keith Allan, fellow Board and Chamber members, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our 2008 Annual General Meeting.   As your outgoing President I have the task of reviewing 2008 activities and events, which I will do very briefly, and more importantly -  welcome our new President, Neal Stebbing.

2008 has turned out a very successful year for the Chamber, despite some significant changes.   We have held a large number of great events, including the launch of our very successful Boardroom Breakfasts and ended the year with a very solid bank balance of over $10,000.     All this thanks to the support and involvement of our members and friends - thanks to all of you.

Our three major social events were a great success and set the extremely high standard we have come to demand of our event - the Queen's Birthday Dinner at Fairchild was extremely elegant and enjoyed by many, Ascot Day at the Calder Racecourse was well attended, fun and the ladies hats rivaled those at the Royal Ascot, and finally we finished off with a grand Christmas lunch sponsored by InterContinental Hotels and accompanied by the very professional Gulliver's Preparatory Choir and orchestra who were inspiring - it can't get much better.   As I mentioned, in May we launched the first of our very successful Boardroom Breakfasts graciously hosted by Squire Sanders & Dempsey who set an extremely high standard and one we intend to continue to promote.   In May we also held a cricket match or at least that's what we called it and held a well attended 'welcome to new members' Indian curry dinner, and much much more.

The success of the Chamber in 2008 is in great part due to the involvement and commitment by your Board.  We now have a strong and dedicated Board of individuals totally committed to the growth and success of the Chamber and I thank them for their welcome support.   2008 was a very productive year and I enjoyed every minute of it, but now, my friends, it is time to hear from a great supporter, our new President - NEAL STEBBING.
